Hummingbird has cemented itself in our hearts. We were fortunate enough to not only have a wedding here but we experienced the best weather you could possibly ask for. Pair that with the tremendous service from Hummingbird and folks we consider as world class and it was as spectacular of a night as you can imagine.
None of what we experienced could have happened without Kenneth. What an absolute rockstar from vendor communications, food tastings, walk through, local recommendations and just overall being a standup guy. Kenneth had his staff working all weekend, from assisting with our tent vendor to treating each and every guest like an A list celebrity.
The location is awesome. Our guests loved looking out at the Potomac and being walking distance from EVERYTHING in Alexandria. Now as the groom the following statement is to be expected, the drinks and bar service were fantastic. The apps served during the cocktail hour were devoured. Crab/corn fritters, fried oysters and feta watermelon were ate like the world was coming to an end. Everyone came back from the buffet with short rib and rockfish. Here I thought there be two distinct groups and everyone wanted both options!
The atmosphere was great, having guests dance the night away outside and having a pirate ship pass by on the Potomac as we said our “I do’s” could only happen at Hummingbird. Kenneth and his staff were great. Would recommend the spot to anyone and everyone.
Also having ate breakfast, lunch, brunch and dinner at Hummingbird over the weekend I can attest that the options are great and there are no wrong moves.
Thank you all so much for hosting us and see you soon for a cocktail on the water!

Even on a grey cloudy day love the windowed dining. Fantastic food even better service from Jakobe - a real gem. Back at Indigo for anniversary and another memorable weekend. Great place to grab meal when in beautiful Old Town.

This restaurant is one of Old Town’s fine dinning staple establishments. Anytime I make it to the Waterfront I come to grab a bite and cocktail here. Fantastic location, view, decor, staff, and of course drinks and food. Today we had lobster bisque and Hummingbird cake, both were delicious, high quality and great recommendations from our bartender. I also enjoyed an excellent gin cocktail recommendation from staff and wow great choice! I cannot wait to be back, always excellent energy and delicious bites.

It’s at the back of the Indigo hotel, harder to find from the street, easier from the waterside. It’s a nice spot next to the river with large windows for great views. They also have outside dining that is just as nice, if not better. I started at the bar with some drinks, then went outside and enjoyed the weather with some appetizers. Everything was great, the bar staff were exceptional, food was delicious and the staff were attentive. It’s a great place to get some drinks and a meal, of a great spot to start out before you head out in Old Town.

Gorgeous, quiet corner of Old Town with views of the river. Great food and service! Highly recommend the fried oyster appetizer and the cheese board. A real treat if you are thinking of a nice place for a holiday lunch.

I love this place. I go every Wednesday morning for breakfast and it’s always so calming for me. The staff is so friendly! Moises is the best! He’s always has a smile on his face and provides quick service. He was still able to put in an order of the breakfast tacos even though it’s no longer on the menu! I would like to try their happy hour soon!

Had our wedding at Hummingbird and couldn't be happier with our decision. Kenneth is a pro's pro and he and his staff are extraordinary. We were able to buy out the restaurant and side patio for over 6 hours and celebrate our ceremony, dinner, reception all under one roof (with the bonus of hosting our guests at the attached Hotel Indigo).
Planning a wedding without coordinators was stressful until we started to meet with Kenneth. He and his staff swiftly took care of all the behind the scenes details from menu selection, setup, teardown, food and drink service, and coordinating with our vendors like our DJ with setup and all associated questions / needs they had. We brought our own decor and Kenneth not only decorated the entire venue but made the vision come to life better than we ever expected.
Can't forget about the food. Almost every guest at our wedding commented that our dinner was one of the best they've had at a wedding which would have made our decision to book at Hummingbird worth it alone (the amish chicken especially was a hit). The bar service was incredible as well. Kenneth designed 2 killer signature cocktails that not only fit our theme but were possibly more well-received than dinner.
We want to thank all the good people at Hummingbird one last time for hosting our family and friends. They made our wedding as special as possible and I can't recommend them enough. We'll be back for dinner regularly!

Hummingbird Bar + Kitchen was our wedding venue for both the ceremony and reception. We booked with them in Feb. 2025 for an October 2025 wedding, and in those ~8 months, we probably emailed back and forth with Kenneth 100 times. He is a 5 star Event & General Manager - so patient with us, answering all our questions, and filling our requests. The setting was perfect, the staff set up and tore down the entire space for our event, and they were incredibly attentive, kind, and professional throughout. Our guests raved about the food, the hummingbird cake, and the setting along the Potomac river. The location was incredibly convenient for us and our guests - many who stayed upstairs in Hotel Indigo or nearby, walking distance, and everyone enjoyed the charm of visiting Old Town, Alexandria. Our wedding was such a special day, and while there are a lot of reasons for that - we are so happy that it happened at Hummingbird. Thank you, Kenneth, to you and your staff for making it happen.

My husband and I had our wedding reception at Hummingbird, and we can’t say enough about how wonderful this venue was! From the very beginning, Kenneth, the event coordinator, was exceptionally responsive and communicative, taking the time to quickly and thoroughly answer all of our questions and ensure he was able to make our wedding vision come to life.
For a smaller to mid-sized wedding reception, there is plenty of space in Hummingbird. The floor to ceiling windows give you a beautiful view of the Potomac and the space flows out nicely to an open patio. The food and service were also excellent, with several of our guests particularly noting how good the short ribs and crab cakes were!
Planning a wedding can be stressful, and reserving Hummingbird, and working with Kenneth, made the whole process so much more seamless and enjoyable. My parents also worked with Hummingbird and Kenneth to host a goodbye brunch the day after our reception, which turned out perfectly! Our guests loved being able to celebrate with us in such a gorgeous, unique venue, and we’ll always be so appreciative to Hummingbird and Kenneth for helping to provide us with a perfect wedding weekend!

We loved having breakfast at Hummingbird Bar & Kitchen. The restaurant sits right on the Alexandria waterfront, inside the Hotel Indigo, with huge windows facing the Potomac River that fill the space with soft morning light — perfect if you enjoy calm mornings. The coastal vibe is relaxed and elegant without trying too hard.
We ordered the French toast with crispy bacon and the eggs Benedict with potatoes — everything was delicious and beautifully presented. It’s one of those breakfasts where you don’t rush… you just enjoy the moment.
If you’re staying nearby or exploring the waterfront, this restaurant is an excellent choice to start your day with great food and a peaceful river view. I really enjoyed taking pictures here. If you liked my photos, feel free to check out my Instagram @framinizingdiary.
